SYNESTHESIA

FLAVOR ARC: ASH & MEMORY

volume 1

As a boy, Victor Carbón was haunted by flavors he couldn’t explain—tastes that felt like memories, like ancestors whispering through spice and smoke. After a tragic kitchen fire left him orphaned and exiled from the culinary elite, Victor vanished from the spotlight… until now.

Armed with a ghost-forged chef’s knife and bonded to the Spirit of Fire itself, he returns to Nouvelle Yolk, a city where recipes are power, and the kitchen is war. Here, rogue chefs battle for control of Lost Recipes—ancient dishes that unlock elemental forces and ancestral magic.

Victor’s goal? To ignite forgotten palates, awaken the Spirits of the oppressed, and challenge the corrupt SupperClubs and their Syndicate enforcers. Alone but not unarmed, he begins his rebellion—with flavor as his weapon and memory as his map.

The table is set.

The fire is watching.

This is SYNESTHESIA.

JOIN THE RESISTANCE

Chef Theodore Victor is a James Beard–recognized chef, martial artist, writer, and modern-day stoic whose cuisine fuses Modernist American technique with the ancestral fire of the African diaspora. Born and raised in New York City in the early ’90s, he grew up on hip hop, anime, and Iron Chef America reruns—fueling a culinary imagination that now blends Afro-Latin soul, East Asian precision, and Mediterranean brightness into dishes that haunt and honor.

A protégé of Floyd Cardoz and Alex Stupak, Theo sharpened his skills at North End Grill, Paowalla, Empellón, and Mischa. In 2021, he joined the inaugural class of James Beard Fellows and became a fierce advocate for food education through his work with the Food Education Fund. Whether plating at the Beard House, teaching at Hudson Table, or competing on the culinary battlefield, he cooks like a memory igniting itself—layering smoke, citrus, crunch, and history into every bite.

Urban street scene at night with buildings illuminated by warm orange and red lights, and signs reading 'Soul Kitchen,' 'Foe,' 'Food Spot,' and 'Blenda.' Several people are walking along the sidewalk, with some engaging in conversation. The atmosphere is lively, with the glow of the storefronts and soft silhouettes of other pedestrians inside the eateries.
A man with a stern expression, wearing a black apron that says 'LATE RESERVATIONS', stands amid flames with a fiery ghostly figure behind him. The background is engulfed in flames with Japanese characters at the top and a small flame icon on the side.
